지속가능한 개발의 정의

'지속가능한 개발 혹은 발전'에 대한 정의는 많으나, 유엔(World Commission on Environment and Development 1987)에서 함께 정의한 내용을 다음과 같이 소개하고자 한다.
sustainable development implies "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet
 their own needs".

'지속가능'의 문제는 현재의 요구도 만족시키지만, 미래에 대한 고려도 있어야 한다는 것을 알려준다.
